|You are the light!||
Years ago I was very concerned about how do I look, what am I wearing, how much do the clothes cost that I am wearing as if adding value to my self, who are my parents, friends and what do other people think about me…wow! Those were times! Now looking back it seems so funny because I was so insecure about myself that I had to hide behind all these ideas, images and illusions so that I can be someone that is perfect in other peoples eyes (at least on the outside!) To maintain this illusion inside and outside of myself took away from me a lot of energy and trust in myself. I will share with you now something that happened to me once that I have never shared with anyone before.
So I was going on a date in my hight heels and short skirts in a city named Cēsis that is located in Latvia (a very beautiful city as of matter of fact!). I do not remember all the details about the date but it was getting late and I had to head back home. I though to take a short cut through the woods and cross train tracks as time was getting very tight and I had to catch my bus!
As I was walking my heels made such a loud noise! Klick, clack, klick, clack! I was thinking after a while that it is better to wear comfortable shoes. Anyway I was moving forward and I was checking the surroundings and I was thinking that I am getting lost now, but I walked forward…there is no-one around, just me, I walk and I see that coming towards me is a man that was slightly swaying from the right side to the left side, holding in his hand a white plastic bag and as soon as he saw me he just stopped dead in his tracks! And at that moment my mind was thinking okay, here you are barely dressed, with high heels, pretty face, white curls…soon I was already imagining a scenario that I will be one of those young girls that have been found dead the next day on one of the news channels :D Phew, mind has some awesome imagination that is based mostly on the worst possible scenarios :D
I could not run away so I advanced forward. When I was getting closer to the man that was clearly heavily drunk I thought that I have to do something to release this tension that was in the air and so I…stopped and spoke to the man! I said Hello! and asked if the direction that I was heading was the right one to get to the nearest railway station? The man was stunned for a moment and he looked at me and said yes, you are on the right track and added that I must never ever speak to strangers and especially not with those that are drunk! He smiled at me warmly and I continued my walk with ease.
What is the lesson behind this story that I am sharing with you?
Do not wear high heels when going on a date!
What I actually want to say is that we each need to be ourselves, that which is truly real and unchangeable, that will not perish as situations or people change around us and that is your attitude towards life and how you greet the various challenges that life throws at you, how creative and innovative you are with dealing with day to day situations.
I hope this story is helpful and inspiring for you to be the change that you want to see in the world.
